I'm a serious, no bluff marketer who enjoys talking to developers nearly as much as I do figuring out what makes customers tick.
My horoscope (Aquarius) got one thing right: I see patterns quickly. Naturally, this means I'm a problem solver by trade. When I work with people, I like to understand first what the goal is. From there, it's all about scale and process, though never forgetting there's a person on the other side.
From teaching Romeo and Juliet to developing complex marketing plans, my experience is anything but ordinary.
2019-Present
As a Brand/Marketing Strategist, my responsibility is to ensure the efficacy of University marks and act as a resource for university communicators for brand guidance. I also project manage a range of projects: web projects for our clients and orchestrate/manage our presence at the Twin Cities Pride Festival and the Minnesota State Fair.
2016-2019
My goal was 'simple,' to influence prospective customers to consider Jostens. I did so through an intricate web of digital, print, and field marketing tactics. When not sleuthing through copious amounts of data, I was presenting at annual workshops or writing content to utilize in our campaigns.
2015-2016
While my day-to-day was spent primarily on enhancing our yearbook design tools, I was often engaged with sensitive corporate projects, including working with Adobe and implementing an enterprise e-commerce platform. Building presentations, working cross-functionally, and engaging with C-Suite was a typical day for me.
2014-2015
As a trained educator, I was tasked with curating, copy-editing, and distributing (through Wordpress) over 180 new digital lesson plans aimed to help teachers with journalism education, photography best practices, and other crucial components to managing a yearbook.
2012-2014
I had the great privilege to be an English teacher for well over 120 students in grades 8, 9 and 10. I inspired these minds to read, to write, and to perhaps enjoy a poem every now and then. I also served as the advisor for our school yearbook, director for our junior high plays, and was the assistant coach for our speech team.
Experience can say a lot about people, but so can the words of others. After all, you're potentially interested in working with me, so it's important you hear from others what kind of person I am.
Jason's ability to translate the needs of the customer, consumer, and prospect into relevant and engaging marketing strategies is second-to-none, and he does it all while being a workplace culture champion.
He is someone that you can go to ask any question or pose a problem to, and he will help you solve the problem or assist you in finding a solution.
An experienced web designed and graphics expert, Jason can envision web solutions and visual ideas that generate novel approaches to the issues at hand.
When the sun passes the horizon, I take on a new form: nerd. What started in the hollowed computer room of my seventh grade year turned into a now +20-year adventure coding websites and fixing zits on senior photos. My skills include:
I've coded everything from a Lord of the Rings fan page (you'll never find it) to an auction website. HTML and CSS are my main languages, but PHP and Javascript are not far off. Oh, and I should mention, I've coded my fair share of Wordpress themes in my day. In fact, one even won me a Pacemaker Award from the Associated Collegiate Press.
I have a talent that's earned me the name "eagle eyes;" I can see the slightest misalignment down to the millimeter. I've designed numerous print materials, as well as have edited (heavily) more photos than I can count. In fact, I even wrote a curriculum about how to use Adobe Photoshop & InDesign.
While during the day I flex my marketing chops, it's at night where more creative magic happens. I have been a web developer for 20 years and a image manipulator for just as long. I'm working on a few projects that I'm pretty proud of.
Recipeas is a recipe creation and curation platform that minimizes the narrative noise and focuses on the meat and potatoes of a recipe.
All too often, recipe platforms are cluttered with long narratives about the origins of a dish, bogged down by third-party advertisements, or simply hard on the eyes. By design, Recipeas is meant to cut the fat and focus on function and form.
BidIt is a bidding platform that emphasizes on the experience and not on the payment method.
When a death in the family occurred, my parents needed a solution to help sort through all the estate belongings, without having to use a credit card. Unfortunately, there wasn't a tool for free that solved this problem. Naturally, BidIt came into being.
Needing an extra pair of eyes on a design, or need someone to walk you through each step of the way? I'm your guy!
